Is Hip Hop dieing or dead?different myspace myspace.com
DYING ONLY IF THE CRAPPY DANCE SONGS DON'T GET REPLACED WITH SOMETHING WITH SUBSTANCE.
if bullsh*t music, like the kind soulja boy is putting out, keeps coming, it could die soon.
It's dead
all the wannage gangstaz killed it
they don't know what gangs are about all it is to them is about money and sex
never will there be another Biggie or Pac
AND THATS SAD!!!!
lil wayne is hip hop..and hes not dead hes alive =)
all the talent is headed back underground, with all the marketing focused on ignorant sh*t like Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris. So hip hop as a part of american pop culture is fading, yes, but Hip Hop as an Art, Culture and a movement is growing and evolving. Eventually these stage monkeys like Soulja will be reclassified as not hip hop, i already dont consider these guys real rap anyway.
I just want it not to die but to peacefully end and never to come into our ears again, down with lousy hip hop songs
hip hop is dead. listen to naz hip hop is dead. very true.
Dieing, just not there quite yet.
Dying, since you have good rappers such as Eminem, Common, DMX, Snoop etc.
hip hop isn't dead.
your just not listening right..
**** the bullshit they play on the radio.
listen to some real hip hop.
underground ****.
it all started dying with 50 cents
Dying, but is trying going to hopefully soon recover.
My Analysis:
For the past few years, the hip-hop/rap world has been run almost entirely by commercialism and has started to get more and more "trendy" and is losing more and more value in its lyrics. And since about '04-'05, snap music became popular and ever since then, has been all that's being talked about in rap. Although I'm not gonna mention names, most rap that's getting the right type of publicity today is a group of five dudes singing the same lyrics. It seems now that
Things like this is the reason why people are saying that "rap is crap", "it's just noise with a beat", and that rock music is better, which I don't believe is true because I like them both.
Aside from this, rap %26amp; hip-hop today still has value in both lyrics and beats because some rappers and emcees (whom don't get the right amount of publicity) are still speaking the truth. Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli to name a few. But, if you haven't noticed some rappers are losing their touch (Snoop: Sexual Eruption). It seems that nowadays all you need for radio play is to come up with a dance, cook up a beat, and put together the same lyrics.
*MAIN POINT*
I'm tired of what seems to me like an ongoing war between rap music and rock music. I like them both. To me, it's simple and plain, but to most it's split between black and white, which helps support close-mindedness to the ignorant. IT'S THE SAME CONCEPT. They've both been protested against by those who don't understand it, they both have numerous stereotypes, and they've both collided at one point.
Run-DMC %26amp; Aerosmith
Jay-Z %26amp; Linkin Park
Ludacris %26amp; Sum 41
The Game %26amp; Travis Barker (of blink-182 %26amp; +44)
Limp Bizkit %26amp; Method Man
The list goes on. There's NO difference.
*AND ONE MORE THING*
I'm sick and tired (with every other unbrainwashed rap music fan) of people saying that Lil Wayne is "the best rapper alive: and that "he is hip hop". Don't get me wrong I like him and all, I like Da Drought 3 and look forward to Tha Carter III, but come on y'all he's been hot for what, three years. Back in '99-'00 when he was with Cash Money he was garbage to most, but when "Go DJ" and "Fireman" came out, he gained popularirty, then he came out with mixtape after mixtape after mixtape, sampling other beats and using similes on 'em like he's in the third grade. And now people think he's God's gift to the genre of hip-hop.
*Conclusion*
Hip-hop's not dead, it's just not being seen for what it is right now. Nas makes a good point, but it's not over. I hope this blows over quickly.
Here's some good hip-hop/rap to look into:
Common
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Ludacris
T.I.
OutKast
2Pac
Notorious B.I.G.
Eminem (mostly old, some new)
KRS-One
Will Smith
(old) Snoop Dogg
The Game
Kanye West
Beastie Boys
Black Star (Mos Def %26amp; Talib Kweli)
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Cypress Hill
(old) Busta Rhymes
LL Cool J
Wu-Tan Clan (or anyone from it)
(old) Jay-Z
(some) DMX
Lupe Fiasco
Nas
It is only 5ft under at the moment,But not long to go for the 6ft depth.
dying b cause if the record labels could jus drop all these artists that does all dis crunk.hyphy, snap music and all these other artists who jus make a sloppy album that jus has one hit song to it then the game wouldnt b so messed up.
