Why is Rap or Hip-Hop blamed for everything, I recently heard of an article that blamed (or at least had it listed as a factor) the NFL's Sean Taylor death on hip-hop and i wonder y our (Blacks or Africans living in america) music is being blamed for everything wrong in america.

Because everyone wants to have an excuse for why people aren't doing the right thing, instead of holding them accountable for making bad choices. Rap/hip-hop is not putting a gun to anyones head and making them do anything.

Because most people don't understand it and when most people don't understand something, they automatically think it's wrong. Ignorance!
Cuz' everybody has this sterytype of rap and hip hop being about drugs, sex and doing stupid stuff!!!! It's sooo mean!!!
Because it promotes violence, hatred and an illegal lifestyle as though they are normal.

Because people are stupid enough to think that music alone can influence kids to go try to sell cocaine. Why arent the movies blamed when everyone knows a visual has more impact on people than anything. They are basically giving the kids the ideas of how to do it in movies.

Idiots will be idiots because music is not worse today than it was back when 2 Live Crew and NWA were out doing their thing in the late 80's early 90's. Taylor came from a bad part of a city, so do millions of others who listen to the same music. I graduated from college and still listen to hip hop and rap. Taylor never defined who he was through music he did that on the field. So who cares what he listened to.. it has no bearing on his life. Aquaintances and friends, old and new play a bigger part in someones life than songs on the radio.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed how music became the scapegoat amidst the Don Imus situation. Our own Black politicians and major figures who fell into that trap like Al Sharpton and even Oprah who i just knew was brighter than that. They let him slide for his own personal feelings and views and attacked their own people. They might as well have not even said anything because Imus is back on radio now.... Protesting and complaining did nothing if your not gonna stick to your guns and say nothing when he goes back on radio.

Everyone blames someone other than themselves for everything nowadays.
The true answer to this question is....because a lot of people are STUPID enough to be significantly influenced by it. I love rap and hip-hop. It presents and plays out a fantasy world that I can't experience, and probably actually wouldn't want to, myself. However, some people are not that smart and are very negatively influenced by it.
because the only thing rappers talks about is money, sex, drugs, and killing ppl; which they have never done. if they were to do something like that everybody knows they would be locked up by now. for example: project pat use to talk about drugs, sex, and killling ppl all the time. and every since he got out have you noticed that he doesn't talk about killing ppl anymore?

um its an excuse because most parents know about the music that kids listen to BUT not the ' big stuff' like pornography and other stuff u know

think of it like videogames bring blamed for everything but it does have minor 'mistakes'
