What is the first hip hop song you listened to and liked?

There is the whole hip hop is dead controversy. I tend to understand it because it has changed a lot since I first started stealing my brother's cassettes. So, what was the first song you remember listening to and liking? And do you think hip hop is dead? Why?

Many of you might not know that in many of the countries in Africa the young people follow hip hop as intense as the young people in the States. Growing up in a West African nation formerly called Gold Goast( an assignment for you to search which country is that), we used to listen to a lot of hip hop in a club in my town(village) called Kanaco. Yes, Club in a village(rural community in Africa). I heard classic rap legends and hip hoppers like Kurtis Blow, Mc Hammer, Hi-5, New Edition etc.

Hip hop is not dead and is not going to be dead. What is happening is that people ( many respected fans) are getting tired of same old abusive, graphic, sexist, violent laden lyrics and are looking for a new direction which is positive. Hip hop is now a culture hence the emergence of big names trying to carve a new direction for it. Look at Kanye West, Common and the rest. Even Stage fashion is being affected. Performers have to show class or you are of an inferior breed. With the economics that goes with this culture and industry, it's demise is not in sight now. It's booming.

There is hope for hip hip towards a progressive social change. Have you heard of hip hop inspirations in some music around the world? There is the African Hip hop, Indian Hip hop, Japanese hip hip, Taiwanese Hip hop etc. With all these offshorts, hip hop will never die.

first song that i liked was by tupac: dear mama and yes hip hop is dead because the rappers today talk about sittin on 22's, how much money they got, guns, drugs and stupid stuff like that. old rappers like tupac and biggie are not like that
i remember when i was Little(80's baby) it was all about the rapper delight!!!

is hip hop dead.... if you can to call songs about taking off your clothes a guy looking at your booty hip hop, then no.

but if you want to talk about real political issues that affect all community whether it be black or white. then yes!!!

hip hop is dead or at least its not what it use to be!
Mr. Wendel by Arrested Development. And no, I don't think it is dead.....all music evolves with the times and doesn't sound like it did when it first appeared originally. This trend often causes some of the genres' older listeners to resent the new stuff and proclaim it 'dead' simply because it doesn't sound the 'same'. This happens in all genres of music, not just hip-hop. They don't appreciate that music evolves and often times even sounds a little better. True music lovers appreciate the new stuff (we don't have to like all of it, just appreciate it), and remember and love the old as well. If these trends didn't happen, we'd all be bored to tears listening to songs that all sound the same and artists that never got creative and took risks.
I remember Rappers Delight when it came out (old man). I thought it was the coolest song so i begged to buy the album. I think good Hip Hop is dead. Media/ Commercial is whats played and its garbage cause they control the airwaves. They dont push artists like Common, Talib K. and artists like that all thats promoted is bubble gum rap with a beat that people will like who cares what being said over the beat and the stereotypes that are portrayed along with it.
THE SHOW ..... , as far as it being dead I don't think so but obviously the BEST rappers do not get any air time because they don't feed the public ignorant stuff.
