What do you like Hip/Hop or Rap?

Theres a diffrence

Hip/hop stays true to the streetz. They have gangs, guns, respect all that stuff

Rap just does what it cans to make money. They talk about how much money the have and how they're pimps,

Me i like Hip/hop

What do you like Hip/Hop or Rap?maps myspace.com

Exactly... people don't understand that we actually see this stuff everyday, you know?

What do you like Hip/Hop or Rap?myspace graphics myspace.com

i love hip hop!!!!
REAGAETTON !!!! and SALSA
rap cause it has the bad *** rhymes
i perfer neither. i likejayz because of his beats and what-not. but other than that, i don't like either.
I prefer hip hop. All rap does is poison the minds of the youth of today. It has no point and constantly endorces violence, sex, and drugs. Hip Hop songs have meaning like maybe a moral to the song. Rap is just ridiculous.
Neither.

Why do people think there can't be "fake" Hip Hop?

ummm hell yeah there can be fake rappers. Would you say that Kevin Federline is "real" Hip Hop? What about Vanilla Ice? Or even worse, Tila Tequila? If you think for one minute that they should fall under the Hip Hop umbrella, than you're crazy. YES- there are fake rappers out there who don't know shiz about Hip Hop culture, history, genre, technique, skill and call themselves Hip Hop.

Why do people think there can't be "fake" Hip Hop?myspace

fake rappers isnt the same thing a fake rapper can be someone who lies on records about what they do but for these people to still want to rap doest make them fake it just makes them different to what ur expecting from a hip hop artist but it doesnt mean they're fake and to not know means u wish to be educated and just because their music dont appeal to u dont mean they dont know anything about the skill technique culture or history they're just doing something they love/like to do isnt that what hip hop is about self expression thats just the way they choose to express themselves

Why do people think there can't be "fake" Hip Hop?myspace icons myspace.com

"all them cats u named was wack"- and wack don't equal fake
I agree. Let's use Vanilla Ice for example. He lied and said he was "from the streets" and acted as though he was "down", come to find out he was from the Suburbs and knew nothing about the Hip Hop culture. That, in addition, to his exaggeration of the black culture, they he talked, walked, used slang, even the way he wore his hair. It was all fake yo! That makes him a fake rapper and his music fake Hip Hop. Straight up. K-Fed ain feelin Hip Hop. He just woke up one morning bored and decided he gone put out a CD and of course he had the financial backing from Britney.. haha.

I think by TODAY'S standards, anything goes. That's why ppl ain trippin over K-Fed and if Paris Hilton wanna put out a rap CD, noboday trips because today's standards are so freakin low. Vanilla Ice and others of the same, got straight backlashed against back in the early 90's. Vanilla Ice was a joke back then. Why? Because being a good lyricist and good skill was mandatory back then.

And I agree lyin should fall under fake too, BUT you gotta understand sometimes peeps don't necessarily be lyin, but they tell "stories" inspired by the hood. If they really did cap somebody out, they would be fool to "admit" it to the public, don't you think?
It is because Hip Hop is Hip Hop. Theyre is bad Hip Hop but it is still Hip Hop nonetheless.
I agree! Everyone can classify it however they want, but I know the difference between what's real and what's not. If they want to include K-Fed and others like him as Hip Hop, fine. But I don't and will never consider Hip POP artists as Hip Hop. Yes, that goes for 50 cent, Soulja Boy etc... so it has nothing to do with race.

****REAL**** HIP HOP RIGHT HERE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVYwcXMyL...
lol..Hip Hop is Hip Hop. i dont know Kevin Federline or Tila Tequila personally, so i dont know what they do or dont know about the "hip hop culture", history, genre, or any of that other shyt u talkin about
all them cats u named was wack they one hit wonders, pop rap or wat eva u wanna call it, like tha boul before me said fake rap could just be a ***** lyin on his tracks just like 50 cent, like how u cappin cats still if u live in a million dolla manison

I know how to revive hip hop...?

This is just a theory. But what if we get stations that used to play rap like kiss FM to play the new underground alternative hip hop records. Not many but just the best ones. When good music comes to light, that'll draw the currently ignorant into real hip hop and provide that diversity that has been missing. Hot 97 and all the other radio stations will see that it reaches listeners and start playing more concious records.

Is this a fairy tale or could it work?

I know how to revive hip hop...?my myspace

It could work, but Kiss FM doesn't even touch Rap anymore. They play songs with a Rap verse in it, but take the Rap verse out, and Hot 97 and Power 105 will not change their play list unless it can increase listenership (they don't want to risk it). Your idea could work, but radio stations do not want to risk losing viewers because that equals less ad revenue.

Unless "new underground alternative hip hop" artist or their record labels can and are willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to push a new single (Pay-for-Play, legal payola) , they can't receive commercial spin on FM radio. U have independent and pirate radio stations that play a variety, but they may never reach Hot 97 status. You have an idea, but getting the variety in radio that u want to the masses will be hard (especially when it's not popular). I do believe it will happen one of these days. I'm getting tired of the monotony.

why dont you focus some of that intellect on college?
you cant kill the metal!!!metal will proove you wrong!!haha
i think it's a fantasitc idea!
Its plausible, but how do you plan on getting a station like kiss fm to play underground rap???
so im guessin ur from NY?
I'm sorry but Hip Hop is dead... : (
Well im not sure but hip hop is not dead like the rapper nas says. many people belive its a fairy tale because hip hop and rap curse too much.
It could work but have fun cause I don't know the stations that are going to play those songs for you. You going to have to call them 24/7 and ask them to play those songs, eventually they are going to tell you that there are other songs they want to play and that are there bunch of people complaining.
hop hop isnt dead and i think u have a markatable idea
Jip hop doesn't need to be revived. If anything rock does. Hip Hop and Rap sucks.
it could work...the station that I listen to sometimes plays songs from bands I've never heard of...
man i'd love it if that would happen, but we are not going to see that. Right now, our best hope is that the public catches onto the best mainstream artists or best major label artists (i.e. common, pharoahe monch, etc.) and hope they get major radio play. Common is not even getting major play and the album's due in a month. Pharoahe is on SRC/Universal but you're not seeing many promotions. There are many other examples of big league artists getting no play. I definitely agree that maybe we should have the biggest underground local acts on a radio show a couple times a week. Like DC/VA/MD has Kenn Starr, Oddisee, etc that they could play a few songs off their albums or something. Oh well, just hope that it changes. I wonder if radio stations actually take requests......
OR we can stop listening to hip hop to begin with. I personally dont beleive that it is the kind of music that needs to be pumped into young people. We as a society need to listen to the words of some of these songs, and ask ourselves is it worth introducing anti christian, pro promiscuity, pro drug, pro sin music that glorifies the "gangsta" life. I dont think so. I think you should sit down for a good hour or lifetime with the good BOOK and learn some REAL values. Learn what should really be glorified in life. God bless and I'll pray for you to find Jesus Christ and be saved from your sins. That you will realize the error of your ways and that you will find peace in Him!
umm in Dallas they already do that. They only play the like 3or4 of the newest or old (like from 2002) hip hop or rap songs
Saigon is dropping a track with Jay-Z and he is a socially conscious rapper... he might get radio play because of jay-z and its his single.... i mean Papoose had to drop a track with SNoop Dogg to get record play......

Who sings that rap/hip hop song that has the same beat as Na Na na na hey hey hey hey goodbye?

Who sings that rap/hip hop song that has the same beat as Na Na na na hey hey hey hey goodbye? I know the original is done by steam. But this song is frequently played at sporting events and it has a rap/hip-hop beat to it

What happened to Rap / Hip-Hop??? Help me out!?

And I don't want to hear "The Black Eyed Peas" are the new hip hop-STOP THAT! Don't wanna hear "Jay-Z and G-Unit ruined rap!" STOP THAT TOO! I listen to lots and lots of different artists and genres but I've found myself gravitating heavily towards rock music. I've always had a healthy balance of music (mostly rap/hip-hop %26amp; assorted rock) in my life but my last chunk of downloads have been Hawthorne Heights, Flyleaf, Cartel, 30 Seconds to Mars, Panic! At The Disco, 10 Years...see the trend??? The last rap related thing I downloaded was Fort Minor...what do you think?

What happened to Rap / Hip-Hop??? Help me out!?coolest myspace

I hope I don't get flooded w/ some hate-age for this, but pop over to okayplayer.com. You might like those bands/groups if you aren't feeling the booty-bouncing/crunk stuff or BEP. Good luck, man. Rap/HipHop is a diverse as "rock", you'll find something that sparks you. Might take some digging, tho...

What happened to Rap / Hip-Hop??? Help me out!?myspace comments myspace.comRap/hip hop died. I don't like it but im not a poser skater anyway. I dont own a pair of etnies because every preppy in the universe has a pair. Report It

Good! Stop listening to crap! It sucks! Those aren't the best rock groups out there but I certainly encourage you to listen to rock.
I feel the same way. Rap/ Hip-Hop is my favorite choice of music, but lately Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Papa Roach, upon other rock artist has been downloaded to my Ipod. I don't think that rap is being corrupted or anything but I just decided to widen my variety of music.
stupid
Over commercialization to the point were creativity is being lost.
rap never died just the flame in some people. and they find that some people like this and it gets played more they have to listen to it to be popular which is unloyal.

no music ever dies never.
I love rap but if you noticed radio stations are only playing "#1's". It might help if you buy CDs or and iPod or something of that sort. I'm gettin tired of da radio so i bought an iPod. If you like rap enough you might like some old school junk like Ice-T OG the original gangsta.

Why is hip hop dead in new york?

why is hip hop suddenly falling apart especially in new york does anyone have a good answer?

Why is hip hop dead in new york?myspace pictures

Because its commercial. If you dont have catchy hooks or a markable image your basically not going to sell. In New York where it started radio stations play the same songs over and over you got djs taking money under the table from artist in return for more spins. In the beggining Hiphop was done for fun and if you made money then it was a plus Now its all about money.

Why is hip hop dead in new york?scroll boxes for myspace myspace.com

because people dont want real hip hop any more, they just want trendy stuff like hos, cars, money, booty, and drugs

they want poor excuses for hip hop like lil wayne and souljah boy

im not dissin the south , because outkast, UGK,and little brother are dope and they are from the south
Yo coz i left d newYRK bro
It is??? Yeheay that's it I'm moving back to New York!!!

Ahem. If what you're saying is true, then I think it's because most african-americans prefer to live in california or florida than in new york. it gets really cold in new york during the winter, and also the people there are really serious in their business. there's very little time to sit back, relax, and think of a nice phrase you can turn into a rap song. most underground bands in new york know each other, and i think it would be really awkward if a rapper hip-hopper pops up to perform with them.
Because Master P took it from NY in the late 90's and brought it to the South.
www.endoftheweak.com

they've been holding down the underground scene in NYC for 7 years.... it ain't NYC unless its EOW

peep it. They do mad concerts, open mics, and mad albums.
Hip-Hop is dead everywhere, EVERYWHERE, North, South ( yes the south, hip-hop does NOT live in the south) its dead, ( not dead as in you dont hear it, but the quality is dead, therefore its DEAD) as i say, these crappy "rappers" are just disrespecting what the greats have tried so hard to establish, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Notorious B.I.G., Big Pun, Run DMC, Blackstar ( bassically) Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Jay-Z Eric B. %26amp; Rakim. they are pissing on hip-hops grave and essentially on the graves on those who have died and remained true to hip-hop. You wanna hear true hip-hop? Listen and Compare what true hip-hop is:

-Nas- "It Aint Hard To Tell"- Illmatic- excerpt

It ain't hard to tell, I excel, then prevail

The mic is contacted, I attract clientele

My mic check is life or death, breathin a sniper's death

I exhale the yellow smoke of buddha through righteous steps

Deep like The Shinin', sparkle like a diamond

Sneak a uzi on the island in my army jacket linin

Hit the Earth like a comet, invasion

Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half-man, half-amazin ( i loveee this line! it aint hard to tell =D)

Cause in my physical, I can express throuh song

Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong

I drank Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell

From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain't hard to tell...

to this so called hip-hop, once again pissing on hip-hops grave:

Hurricane Chris- No Album? Whats the Album Name For this sh*t?- Ey Bay Bay ( original title folks! i swear..)

When I Holler Ay Bay Bay

I Finna Get My Groove On

Its So Hot Up In Da Club

Dat I Ain't Got No Shoes On

Im Holdin' Up A Big Stack And Dem

Hundreds In A Rubba Band

Girl Don't Ask Me For No Cash

Cause Im Not Dat Other Man

I Don't Trick On Chick Dats Talkin'

Dem Boyz In Da Back Dey Be Rollin'up Dey Doughdy

Then Dey Blow It Till Dey Chokin'

Dats Wat Godly Came Out

Honestly, Hip-Hop is dead, just listen to the greats and what theyve left us with, thier legacies in the form of hip-hop. =/
Cause you have alot of young rappers coming into the game who don't know anything. They wanna be like somebody else jeu get the money and bling. They don't have real talent. Then other young people give them too much props then all the great rappers fade to the background.
